Now in its 17th
year, the N.C. Center for
Nonprofits is a statewide organization
that serves, promotes, and represents
the nonprofit sector and strengthen
nonprofits’ effectiveness as they
improve North Carolina’s quality of
life.
The Center serves as an information
center on organizational practices that
are effective, ethical, and legal. It is
also a statewide network for board and
staff members in all types and sizes of
nonprofits. Finally, it’s an advocate
for the nonprofit sector as a whole.
The Center was founded in 1990 by
Jane Kendall after three years of
interviews pointed to the need for
nonprofits to work together to
strengthen their organizations and the
nonprofit sector. Priorities were set
with input from 2,153 leaders in
nonprofits, foundations, and businesses
from all 100 counties. Now it seeks
daily input for continuous improvement
and to respond to the changing
environment for nonprofits.
Membership is open to all
501(c)(3) nonprofits and foundations in
North Carolina.
The 1,550 Members are all sizes
and types of nonprofits in all 100
counties. Dues are $65 to $725 based on
the group’s budget size.
The Center helps Member nonprofits
